About the Case format
Considerations before you convert your Cases
* Cases in Primafact are discrete units; Case materials cannot be shared/linked (copied) between Cases. This means if you have existing Cases that share documents (same document copied in each Case), if you convert those Cases, those documents will become duplicates and updates will no longer be shared across Cases.
If you wish to maintain shared documents:
If you have multiple Cases that share documents, decide which Case will hold the coded materials OR Create a “Master Case” with containing the related Matter folders and Binders.
This must be done before Converting your Folder to a Case. When related folders are Converted to separate Cases, all existing links (copies) are lost, and the documents are converted to Duplicates. This cannot be undone.
It is important to make accommodations for any documents you wish to keep copied in multiple Cases BEFORE you convert your Cases - once the shared documents are converted to duplicates you cannot revert back.

Convert a Case - Text Version
Select your older format case folder. Older-format cases are housed in a manilla-colored folder. Each case folder should house one or more binders.
(If your case consists of a binder only, with no parent folder, you will need to create and name a folder, then add your binder to the new folder.)- Right-click on the case folder to reveal the pop-up menu. Select Convert to Case
- Once converted your case will appear as a black folder. You may need to close and re-open Primafact to see the Case features activated.
