About Auto-Generating Title Aliases
You can configure Title Aliases to auto-generate based on Primafact data field content. If using Auto-Generates, your team will need to ensure that applicable Case Summary fields and document profile fields are populated with accurate data (an empty field will yield an βn/aβ output for that field).
Planning Titles & Associated Primafact Data Fields
Getting Ready. First, determine how documents will be named in a title alias, then to use (or create) Profile fields to correspond to the intended output.
Example: If you wanted your output to look like:
"1. Factum β Respondent Doe β 8-SEPT-2024"
you would want to include the following profile fields:
- β1.β β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦..β¦ [Document Number - Custom Profile Field (Number)]
- βFactumβ β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦. [Document Description - Custom Profile Field (Text)]
- βRespondentβ β¦β¦β¦..β¦ [Party Role - Existing Field on Summary Screen (Main Action) (Text) or Custom Profile Field (Motions)
- βDoeβ β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦β¦.. [Party Name - Standard Primafact Field on Summary Screen]
- β8-SEPT-2024β β¦β¦β¦β¦.. [Document Date - Standard Primafact Profile Field (Document Date)]
See Customizing Profile Fields for details on configuring Profile Fields
Associated profile fields must be populated with data in order for content to be available for auto-generation.
Setting up a Title Alias Profile Field Category can make it easier to populate specific fields when applicable to your document.
Configuring Auto-Generating Title Aliases (Global Settings)
- System default Title Aliases can be configured in the global settings by clicking
Tools > Setup > Document Titles - The Default Document Titles window will open:
- Click the checkbox beside the Title Alias you wish to set to auto-generate:
- This will activate the Template area:
-
Name your Title (recommended):
- Click the Add Profile Field button
- The Select Profile Field window will open.
- Click the fields you wish to add and click the arrow button to add the selected field to your Template.
-
You can also add your own text to the Template (this is static text that would appear on every document, and is not dependent on Primafact Profile Field content)
e.g. "Motion Record" - %Tab #% - %Document Description% - %Document Date |yyyy-MMM-dd%
- Click OK to preserve changes.
NOTE: If you select βDocument Dateβ you will be prompted to select a date format. You can adjust the date format manually by typing your preferred format, but may have to make a few adjustments to your template to achieve the desired output.
